Our Film Title

This is our chosen title screen, we have chosen this because the shadow that is on the word 'two' reflects the split personality of the main character. We have also used the red around the shadow to connote the danger of one of the personalities, and then the white to connote the innocence of the other personality. The regimental font used on "there were" used to reinforce the idea of the detective work that our protagonist specialises in. 

Fifth cut of opening

In this draft we have finalised the credits and transitions for our opening. This is the draft that we presented to the class, through their feedback we now need to work on the sound used in our opening. We have also included our production company and film title.

This the fourth draft of our opening. In this draft we finalised our credits and picked a rough sound track for the opening. The transitions and cutting/editing of the clips is to a good standard.

Final Sound Decision

After much group discussion and further analysis, we have decided that we will use the ' Psycho 7' sound file with our opening scenes for a number of reasons. Firstly, we feel that it will create the best effect on the audience due to the fact of it fitting well with our footage. We also feel that the effect created is relevant to what we want to achieve in terns of the target audience and how they were influenced or effected. The final sound clip is below;

Actor 1:

This is who we have chosen to play our detective. Sam Bothamley is a year 12 media student. He is suitable as he has shown (in the preliminary task) that he is comfortable in front of a camera. He is easily accessible as he is a member of our group, this also means that he knows the script well. He has been involved in the planning of our film opening which we believe will make it easier for him to portray our character how we planned him to be to portrayed.

Actor 2:

This is who we have chosen to play our antagonist, Jim Pitt. We have chosen Jim to play the stalker/killer because he looks very different in size compared to Sam. Although a plot twist in the film reveals that the detective is actually both the protagonist and the antagonist we wanted to cast another actor to play the antagonist to show that in his head the detective genuinely believes the antagonist is somebody else. Jim's height and build makes him appear threatening and powerful. It also makes the plot twist more unexpected as there is obviously a huge increase in the size by comparison, making it unpredictable. He has also shown high levels of interest in appearing in our film.

Actor 3:

We have chosen Daniel Goult to be appear in pictures as our antagonist's previous victim. He is also a member of our group which made it easy to get pictures of him.He has brown hair and is of a similar in height to Sam, so he could realistically play his brother. It would also fit into our plans of having our stalker choosing his victims based on the same features.  

Mise-en-scene of our horror opening locations

In the opening of our horror movie we will see many different several different scenes in which we will see different items/objects and people.

In the opening scene we enter the office where we see the detective sitting at his desk, this then leads onto him staring at his computer screen which is used in our opening to make it look as though the detective is looking for information about the case he is investigating about the antagonist.

In the next scene we go to the basement, in which we see the basement with little light and covered in plastic sheets on the floor, this is to make the basement look as though it is a regular place for the antagonist to go and to make it look as though it is old. The next camera shot, we see a hand running over a set of gardening tools this is to create more of an effect on the audience as they can associate these tools as every day objects. Then we see a well-lighten pin board which displays the targets of the antagonist, who at this point is dressed in black to hide his identity.

We then cut to the next scene where we see the office which is well lighten with the detective slamming his badge onto the table. His body language shows us just how he is feeling, he looks angered and frustrated due to the investigation of the antagonist's crimes. It shows us that the office is fairly large with pictures of the detective's brother located on the desk this is because he has been killed by the antagonist.

Our next scene see's us flash back to the basement and this time we do see the pin board again however we see the antagonist circle the face of the detective with a red pen this is to show that the audience that he is the next target of the stalker because he knows the detective is trying to track him down, the light in this scene is focused on just the stalker circling the face, this adds on effect of seriousness into the scene as we can sense danger for the detective.

We then go back to the office, where we see a bottle of "Jack Daniels" whisky on the detectives desk, this is to show the audience that the detective could be an alcoholic due to the fact that he pours several glasses.

In the final scene of the opening we see a zoom shot of the axe that the antagonist possess. We then see the lighting dimmed and we then goes to a close up of the antagonist's face, however it only shows his face with a mask so therefore his identity is still hidden.

Location Planning

When deciding on where we wanted to film our horror opening we had to consider whether the locations where easily accessible and if they were suitable to a horror opening or not. Therefore this resulted in the decisions that we made for our locations.

Our first location we are going to use is a basement, We feel that this is one of the best locations to use because our film is based around a stalker and we feel that the basement would have the greatest effect on the audience due to it being a dark place and the fact that it isn't the largest basement so this furthermore has a greater effect as it could make the audience feel claustrophobic. We also feel that the basement is the best location for our opening because we have a scene where the antagonist comes into the basement and runs his had over a set of tools and reveals a board of all his targets.







Next, we feel that the stairs in the basement are effective because we can get a good camera angle of the stalker coming down the stairs, where we don't have to reveal their face in order to add mystery to the opening of the film as no one knows who he is or how he looks.











In the location of the basement, there is a small outside area which we will use and we will film the stalker walking past the window but yet not being discovered who he is, this will add panic to the audience as they won't know what he is doing. However we are yet to decide whether we will film this scene of the opening in the daytime or the evening.


We will also be filming in an office at Thomas Clarkson Academy. This is because in the opening of the horror film we have the detective in the film who is becoming stressed out by the case of the antagonist and it shows the detective at his desk. This location is good for every member of the group because it is easily accessible due to the fact that we all go to the sixth form. This saves us a lot of time trying to go around Wisbech trying to hire out an office because we don't have one in our homes.
