The Preliminary Task and Evalutation

Below is the final preliminary task

Evaluation of the preliminary task

Overall i felt that our preliminary task went quite well considering that we had never done anything like this before. However in the first recording of the film we made an unfortunate mistake. After making the mistake we realised that the filming was not as easy as we first thought. The camera crossed the 'imaginary' line in the 180 degree rule so therefore breaking the rule was something we had to correct. So i learnt that we have to stay one side of the 'line' to not break the 180 degree rule.

In the preliminary task i have developed a new skill of editing; at first i wasn't sure with how to edit because i had never used the software before. However once i started to add clips into the program, i found that i gradually improved at using the software. Another skill i learnt was how to correctly include match on action and short reverse shot.

In terms of feedback i received mostly positive feedback for the preliminary task:

If i was to do the preliminary task again i would make sure that we filmed in an environment where there was only our group because as you can see in the video there were other people in the area that we filmed in. I would also make sure that the batteries in the camera are fully charged before we go to film.

Our final task resulted in a slight change in the script, initially we included Sam wiping the chess board off of the table but as the batteries in the camera went dead we had to get rid of this. Also we obviously had to remove the winning move from Sam due to the same reason with the batteries. We ended up finishing the movie after we had made the first couple of moves.
